4Excellent value - discovered a problem
By C. Romney
I paid $139 at Costco. $169 less $30 instant rebate. They are out of stock on their website, check stores.

This is my first electronic sewing machine. I only used the mechanical ones before.

Button holes are perfect - look no hands. 8 different styles sized for your button.
Needle always ends at bottom of stroke. Press a button and needle comes to the top of the stroke.
The result being the top thread doesn't pull out of the needle when you start.
Machine won't let you sew if you forget to lower the foot.
Sews through 8 layers of medium weight denim.
More decorative stitches than I will need. But now I can add a fancy stitch to my pockets.
Nice thread cutters at left/back of body, at bobbin case and at bobbin winder.
Starts smoothly, you don't have to hand crank the wheel to get it started.
You can start and stop with a button control or the foot pedal. (If pedal is plugged in you have to use the foot ped al.)
You can set a maximum speed. When you "step on it" you get your preset speed.
I plan to use the button controls for buttonholes, winding bobbins and decorative stitches; the foot pedal for seams.
I've been playing with it for two days and really like it.

UPDATE 1/16/13: Automatic buttonhole foot wimped out on me today. I couldn't make a buttonhole in jeans. (With a traditional fly, so many layers and seams.) I didn't experience a problem when I used lighter fabrics. The machine handled everything but the buttonhole. I had to pull out my old mechanical machine which made a 4 step buttonhole no problem. Just not enough foot pressure to work.

UPDATE 1/17/13: Made the jeans again. This time I took extra care to trim seams and make sure I had a very flat area big enough to accommodate that huge automatic buttonhole foot. This time it worked as it should. Online research tells me this is an issue with all automatic buttonhole fe et, they are big and can get hung up on bumps.

5Excellent Machine Unbelievable Price
By Mr Sew
I bought this machine from a competitor and paid more. I have been sewing for over 15 yrs and sew on both Singer and Brother machines. I can't say enough good things about this work of art. I mostly sew heavy upholstery type projects that include up to five layers of fabric. Usually heavy canvas. This machine never stalls never balks just eats the material up and sews it perfect. The drop in bobbin is such a blessing compared to the awkward Singer front load. The tension is perfect out of the box regardless of the project ( never once had to adjust) the feed dog is the most precise, even and consistent of any machine I have ever used. I had always used manuel machines before and even the old Singer cam type. This machine totally changed the game. Not only is every setting a clear button on the front of the machine it even yells you the correct pressed foot to use. Of course you can ignore this as I often do to get a more closer controlled placement of stitch. One of the be st features is that you don't have to use the foot pedal. You simply press the start/stop button and guide the fabric. The adjustable speed control that you control mid stitch insures your project docent run away so to speak. Of course you can use the included foot controller that is very precise when you desire. I haven't used any if the quilting features to date but plan to soon Twi points to note that are not my favorite. The light that claims to be super bright is the dimmest sewing light I have ever had. I compensated fir this with a bright clip on led light. The throat if the machine is relatively constrictive for my needs and I have to make sure to position my projects (mostly upholstery) with the bulk of my fabric to the left free side of the machine. One huge bonus is the extra wide and sturdy quilting table. It will totally change the ease of moving your project through the machine. In short. Buy IT even if you don't need it. You will find you DID

5An Amazing Machine for the Price
By kathy Huben
I did not purchase my machine from Amazon, but would highly recommend any one looking for a simple easy to use machine, this one fits the bill. Very easy to use, my graddaughter is 12 and I am 60 and both did great with the easy to follow instructions. It handles thick fabrics and layers well without bogging down, runs quietly and has 130 stitches and speed control, as well as no foot petal if you choose. We love it!!!!!
