5Great Features, No Problems
By C. MacPhail
We've had the very similar Janome Jem Platinum 760 for about 5 years, after using an economy grade Singer for 20 years.

I was not sold on the idea of paying 4x for a lot of bells and whistles. But it turns out to be completely worth it. Especially the 99.99% trouble-free operation.

PROs:

* Trouble free - no mess-ups in the middle of a project!
* Automatic Needle Up or Down each time you stop
- Nice Zig-Zag + straight stitch combinations
- Needle Threader built in
- LED light

CONs:

* Expensive

The Janome web site has some detailed info in the "brochure" and owner manuals for each model. The 760 seems to be identical to the 720 except for 40 additional stitch patterns that we've never used, and the hard shell cover is optional on the 720.

The hard shell cover is kind of a hassle. Your thread spool is in the way whenever you place or remove the cover. A box made from heavy cardboard might be better than the hard shell cover for transport & storage.

5Great Little Machine
By Susan
Since I travel overseas quite often and the electrical supply isn't always dependable or the proper voltage, I was looking for a small lightweight machine that would run off a solar battery. This fits the bill exactly. It fits perfectly in my carry-on suitcase, and runs like a top! I use a goal zero escape 150. It's a 80 watt battery, and since this machine is rated for 60 watts I even have 20 watts to spare! It uses so little power that I can use it several days without recharging the battery. I just love this little machine!

5Jenome makes a practical sewing machine!
By Carol J Harms
This is the perfect sewing machine for a beginner. My 12-year old granddaughter has several State Grand Championships for quilts and dresses to prove it. Just bought another one for the next granddaughter who is now ready to sew on a sewing machine. I highly recommend this machine. Janome sewing machine has been a staple in seven relatives homes for many years.
