5AMAZING MACHINE & GREAT SELLER
By V. Edwards
I am updating my recent review. If you have problems with the machine call Juki before paying for repair. Mine quit picking up the bobbin thread this week and I was going to have local shop repair it. When I called Juki America and they had me talk to an in-house repair person in hopes he could resolve without having to pay to have it repaired. Turns out they were aware of issue and will pay to ship it back and repair the machine.

If you're a quilter (or garmet sewer) and you don't own a Juki, you don't know what you're missing. This is my 4th Juki and I just love the quality of these machines. This machine sews like butter and is so quiet. The box feed really makes it easy to keep an accurate 1/4" seam also. I have a Bernina and a Viking and would take this machine over both any day. If Juki comes out with a sewing/embroidery combo they could certainly give Bernina a run for the money. They offer a 20 year warranty I believe and I can see why. I've h ad my original Juki TL98 over 5 years and still sews like new.

Bought this from Ken's Sewing Center and not only did I get a great deal but the machine arrived in only a couple of days. If you have questions just email and they respond very propmtly. Thanks Juki and Ken's for an amazing machine.

5I Don't Deserve This Wonderful Machine!!
By Elaine Littau
My first sewing machine was purchased 35 years ago. It was a cheaper model. I gave it to my niece and got a very nice computerized Sears Kenmore machine. It lasted about 25 years and then the electronics fizzled. 5 Years ago I decided that I might be through with sewing as much as I did in the past so I purchased the cheapest model available at Walmart. It had absolutely no electronics on it. I repented as soon as I began sewing. I thought I was the problem because I didn't know if I was working the tension right. After holding it down while I sewed every seam of a Star Wars outfit my son requested I make, I had it with that thing!

My husband saw me trying to sew and told me to get a good machine. I went on Amazon and began looking at all the models available. I also went to various websites and read the things each machine offered. The Juki company interested me, so I read reviews. I was very impressed.

When the Juki HZL-F-400 Show Model Exceed Seri es-Computer Sewing Quilting Machine arrived, my heart beat so fast. I opened the heavy box carefully and was amazed at how well it was packed. It looked like a huge thing from the future. As I pulled it out of the box I realized it was the hard plastic protective cover over the sewing machine.

I uncovered it and was sort of afraid of it. It was very impressive. I took the book that came with it and read it cover to cover before I even plugged it in. When I finally did plug it in, I filled the bobbin on top of the machine. I could not even hear the motor for filling the bobbin. I sewed in a zipper in a pair of pants. I had never experienced anything like it. The machine was so quiet.

The next thing I sewed was quilting an ironing board cover. This sewing machine went through 2 pieces of fabric and 4 layers of old blankets without any problem at all. You would have thought I was sewing a regular seam through silk. I was amazed. Also, cutting the thread on top and bottom by pressing my heel down on the foot control is awesome. Can you tell I love this machine? I know I am not a professional seamtress and I probably don't deserve this great machine, but I wish I had purchased it 35 years ago. This machine makes me very happy.

2Not worth the asking price, unfortunately
By kittyann
I had two machines shipped within a two week period and both had failures of different functions within days of setting the machines up. I had heard through some online sewing groups that Juki was making these great home machines so decided to give it a go. Didn't really need another machine but the description of all that was packed into this model sounded like it could be anyone's 'dream' machine.

To start, the stitchin was just OK, nothing wildly different than any other machine. Punching in the letters/numbers on the keypad was kind of tedious and you had to keep the manual handy to know how to find what stitch with what combo of letters & numbers.

The threader was the worst of the worst IMHO, didn't work all that well and broke on day 3 of the first machine I had. The auto thread cutter also malfunctioned. The auto thread cutter also malfunctioned on the 2nd machine. I was disappointed but some things are not meant to be, and this machine was not meant to be mine.

That said, the store personal whom I bought from were very nice in helping to resolve the issue with the first machine by promptly sending out another. And, they were gracious in refunding my monies when the 2nd machine didn't work out either.

Both machines were listed as 'show' models which meant they were stitched on at quilt shows or sewing expos etc. But they still carried their warranty so is a win win to get a couple of hundred dollars off MSRP.
